Speculum Aeternum is one of the most upvoted inscriptions on ord.io. It was inscribed in June 17, 2023 by sat hunter https://twitter.com/const_quary as the first inscription on a block 9 450x palindrome.
It pioneered both recursion, being the first reactive inscription (cyclically changing with block height by loading data from another 5 inscriptions, also inscribed on old palindromes).
To date, it remains the only inscription on a palindrome from the first Bitcoin to ever reach circulation.
The art represents symmetry preserved in time. The butterfly doesn’t modify it’s symmetrical shape with the mining of more bitcoin blocks, even if it cycles through multiple colors.
