A rare inscribed gilt-bronze figure of Mahottara Heruka

Tibet, 14th century


the Nyingma order deity Mahottara Heruka (T. Chemchog) with three heads, six arms and four legs, holding skull cups (kapala) in his left hands and diamond sceptres (vajra) in his right, trampling demons lying prone on the lotus pedestal, and in union with his consort, with a two line inscription along the back of the base
