Flambé glazed vase of this type are rare although this form is more typically known with a blue and white decoration. See for example a Qianlong 'lotus' vase of this form in the Shanghai Museum, illustrated in Zhongguo taoci quanji [Complete series on Chinese ceramics], vol. 15, Shanghai, 2000, pl. 5.
