Ex-collection Michel Abemayor (1912-75), New York

A Qur’an copied by Muhammad Amin al-Rushdi is in the Istanbul University Rare Books Library (inv. no.A.6671, see Derman 2010, pp.316-321, no.79). The colophon to that manuscript names his teacher as Omer Vasfi Efendi, however, other sources indicate that he was taught by Akmolla Omer and, elsewhere, Mahmud Raci Efendi (ibid., p.316). Our scribe is also credited with the calligraphic bands and foundational inscription of the Hamidiye mausoleum in Bahcekapi (ibid.).
