Signed Hizen no kuni Musashi Daijo Fujiwara Tadahiro (Musashi Daijo Fujiwara Tadahiro from Hizen Province)
Edo period, dated Kan’ei gannen hachigatsu kichijutsu (an auspicious day of the 8th month 1624)
Sugata [configuration]: shinogi zukuri, iori-mune, shallow tori-zori, chu-kissaki
Kitae [forging pattern]: pronounced and flowing itame hada mixed with wood burl (mokume), plenty chikei and ji-nie
Hamon [tempering pattern]: gunome with midare in ko-nie deki, bright nie-laden wide nioiguchi, featuring much sunagashi, kinsuji, ashi and yo Boshi [tip]: rounded maru-boshi in hakikake style with steep turnback
Nakago [tang]: ubu, kengyo, horizontal kiri yasurime file markings, single mekugi-ana
Habaki [collar]: silver and copper-gilt, double clad
In shirasaya plain wood scabbard] with sayagaki by Tanobe Michihiro
Nagasa [length from kissaki to machi]: 72.8 cm., 28¾ in.
Saki-haba [width at the yokote]: 2.1 cm., ⅞ in.
Moto-haba [width at the machi]: 3.2 cm., 1¼ in.
Accompanied by a certificate of registration as Tokubetsu Hozon Token [Sword Especially Worthy of Preservation], no. 1000210 issued by the Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai [Society for the Preservation of the Japanese Art Sword], dated 24 (2012).
The sayagaki inscription by Tanobe Michihiro has been translated as:
Musashi Daijo Fujiwara Tadahiro from Hizen Province
This blade is signed with a twelve-character naga-mei and is dated an auspicious day of the 8th month of Kan’ei one (1624). In the tenth year of the Genna era (1624), the smith proceeded to Kyoto where he received in the 18th day of the second month the honorary title Musashi Daijo whereupon he changed his name from Tadayoshi to Tadahiro. On the 30th day of the second month, the era changed from Genna to Kan’ei, which makes this blade one of the earliest known by this smith that is signed with the honorary title Musashi Daijo. The forging differs from the usual konuka-hada and appears as a 'wet' looking mixture of itame and mokume and the hardening is a vivid and nie-laden midare with a
wide nioiguchi that features many ashi and connected yo. The deki of this blade is excellent and it is also a very important reference piece.

Attested by Tanzan in April of the Year of the Dog of this era (2018) and kao [cursive monogram]

Juniji no naga-mei oyobi Kan’ei gannen hachigatsu kichijitsu no ki kore ari. Doko Genna junen joraku-shi nigatsu juhachinichi ni Musashi Daijo ninzerare na o Tadayoshi yori Tadahiro ni kaimu nigatsu sanjunichi ni kaigen to nari honsaku wa Musashi Daijo no saiko no saku nari. Tsune no konuka-hada to isasaka kotonari ita-moku no onjun naru hada-ai ni kattatsu na midare o yaki ashi, yo tsunagu nie-nioi shinko shikamo deki yoroshiku kuwaete shiryo-sei takai.
