Description

6¼-inch chapter ring, the dial plate engraved with tulips and signed beneath the chapter ring John Samon Fecit, central alarm disc, the altered and later movement converted from a 30-hour longcase clock to verge and front-swinging short pendulum, external locking plate striking on a bell, the conventional posted case with urn finials, shield frets, the front fret engraved and bearing the date 1649, the alarm train mounted on the iron back plate, turned conical feet; together with a 20th century oak wall bracket with label stating that this clock had been bought from the Wetherfield Collection in 1923
