Description
carved in high relief with twin fluted acanthus fronds both emerging from a two-tiered three-leaf calyx and once terminating in addorsed volutes, with half palmettes above once flanking a small rosette, the reverse roughly carved as a duplicate of the observe and in shallower relief.
Height 86 cm.
private collection, Switzerland, acquired in the early 1980s on the German art market
by descent to the present owner
