Description

A Sassanian Silver Ewer

circa 5th Century A.D.

of slender piriform shape and standing on a tall waisted foot, the tapering neck rising to a flattened spout, the strap handle of quadrangular section and surmounted by a globular thumbrest, a dotted Middle Persian inscription on the edge of the foot.

Height 30 cm.
