Description

Old Grand-Dad 100 Proof

Distilled in Fall 1917, bottled in Fall 1932, ullage: low shoulder, original carton worn

Basil Hayden, nicknamed Old Grand-Dad, ranked among the earliest commercial whiskey distillers in Kentucky, and the bourbon that bears his likeness has carried down through the ages. Hayden’s descendants honored him by establishing the Old Grand-Dad Distillery in Hobbs Station, Kentucky, after the Civil War. R.E. Wathen, scion of a different bourbon dynasty, bought the distillery in 1899, and over the next two decades turned out prized bourbons – including this bottle, distilled in 1917 and released in 1932, the final year of Prohibition.
