When Heaven Hill bought the Old Fitzgerald brand in 1999, it got more than intellectual property – it also received a small number of wheated-bourbon barrels distilled at the famed Stitzel-Weller Distillery. Filled in 1992, they are among the last to come out of the distillery before it closed for good later that year. Heaven Hill kept the whiskey in barrels until 2012, then placed the whiskey in stainless-steel tanks to stop the aging process. In 2015 it combined 12 of those barrels for this very limited release, which won the prestigious Whisky of the Year Award from the magazine Whisky Advocate. This bottle comes in its original wooden presentation case, along with an educational booklet.
