circular basin with deep well, engraved with arms and supporters under count's coronet, marked on base and with scratch weight 53=15; the ewer, of helmet shape, engraved with matching arms and coronet, marked with maker's mark only on body near handle, possibly added at a later date, with scratch weight 25-15

The arms are those of Skeffington impaling Chichester for Clotworthy, 4th Viscount Massereene and his wife Catherine, first daughter of Arthur Chichester, 3rd Earl of Donegal, m. 1713. He served in the Irish House of Commons between 1703 and 1714 as M.P. for County Antrim. They lived at Antrim Castle, or Massarreene Castle, on the Six Mile Water river, Co. Antrim. They had seven children; he died in 1733 and she in 1749.
