Margherita of Savoy, Queen of Italy (1851-1926)

Princess Eudoxia of Bulgaria (1898-1985)

The pink topaz and diamond bracelet, lot 1028, was intended to compliment this necklace. Both items originally belonged Margherita of Savoy, Queen of Italy (1851-1926) who left them to her granddaughter Princess Giovanna of Savoy, Tsarina of Bulgaria (1907-2000). The latter in turn gifted them to her sister-in-law Princess Eudoxia of Bulgaria (1898-1985). Princess Eudoxia of Bulgaria had been the first lady of Bulgaria before her brother Tsar Boris III married in 1930. Though she had some difficulty adjusting to her new role of lesser importance, these gifts show that Princess Eudoxia entertained a warm relationship with her sister-in-law Princess Giovanna of Savoy, Tsarina of Bulgaria.
