Description

From the Collection of Archduchess Margarete Sophie of Austria, Duchess of Württemberg (1870-1902)

Diamond brooch, circa 1900

Designed as a stylised lily on a stem, set with cushion-shaped and rose diamonds, one petal centering on a circular-cut diamond weighing 3.74 carats, Austrian maker's and assay marks for gold, flowerhead and stem detachable.

Archduchess Margarete Sophie of Austria, Duchess of Württemberg (1870-1902)

Margarete Maria, Duchess of Württemberg (1902-1945)

This brooch was part of the estate of Margarete Maria, Duchess of Württemberg (1902-1945). She died at the end of World War II, hit by a stray bullet shot by a French soldier. In all likelihood, she had inherited this brooch from her mother Archduchess Margarete Sophie of Austria, Duchess of Württemberg (1870-1902).
