The Kuleli Military Academy was the oldest military high school in Turkey, located in Çengelköy, on the Asian shore of the Bosphorus. Commissioned by Sultan Abdülmecid I, the building was completed in 1843. The school was closed in 2016 and turned into a museum. The two vessels depicted were constructed in 1864. The paddle-steamer on the right is called Izzettin and the armoured frigate on the left is of Ottoman (Osmaniye) classification.
