Scuffed label and slightly corroded foil 

54% Pinot Noir, 46% Chardonnay (a high percentage as this was a Chardonnay year) and 11% oak fermented. Some would call 1988 the last of the 'classic' years as from 1989 the climate entered a warm cycle. Cristal always displays a haunting bouquet and a texture of pure lace - in the 1988 there is also underlying vinosity and structure which make it awe-inspiring. In 2014, white truffles and dried apricots on the nose, plus orange skins that were almost smoky. Look out for the candied citrus too which comes from the Chardonnay. A real taste of marmalade with freshness and hazelnuts at the end. Liquid honeysuckle. Serena Sutcliffe, MW

由於1989年後氣候已進入暖化周期，有人認為1988年是最後的「經典年份」。 

Cristal一向展現迷人的香氣及哩士般的質感，1988年的佳釀更有著緊緻的酒體結構令其更精彩。2009年底，我品嚐過一瓶2006年9月才作最後步驟除去樽頸的酵素物的佳釀。帶有白松菌及乾杏梨的氣味，加上有點煙燻橙皮及來自夏當內葡萄的酸果氣息。有著清新橙果醬及榛子味收結，像金銀花露。
