This finely cast large portrait bronze depicts the 17th century teacher Kunga Rinchen Gyatso. He was born in the hereditary line of the Narthang rulers, and was enthroned on the monastic seat of Takden Damcho Ling, where he led the Jonang tradition for fifteen years until the monastery was converted from the Jonang to the Geluk tradition by order of the Tibetan government of the Fifth Dalai Lama. He then moved in later life to the monastery of Sangngak Riwo Dechen.
