A VINTAGE LUNAR GLOBE MADE TO COMMEMORATE THE APOLLO 10 MISSION

Denoyer-Geppert was commissioned by NASA in 1969 to create a lunar globe using film footage and photographs of the far side of the Moon taken by Apollo 10. Denoyer-Geppert's design became the first complete Moon globe, and was presented to President Nixon by the Apollo 10 astronauts to commemorate the mission. 200 first edition globes were produced using this design, the first of which went to President Nixon with four going to special members of Congress.

The present lot is an early edition, as it does not mark the landing sites for any Apollo missions.
