Description
[Apollo 17]
Panoramic photograph of the Lunar Surface, AS17-P-2877
Panoramic silver gelatin print from Apollo 17 ITEK Panoramic Camera, image AS17-P-2877, 9½ x 172 inches (14 ft, 4 in), mission and image IDs to the left and right sides of the print.
Taken on December 15, 1972 by the Apollo 17 ITEK panoramic camera, this photograph would have been used by NASA to select potential landing sites and future exploration areas. Of course, Apollo 17 was — as of July 2023 — the final mission to the Moon, with Gene Cernan famously becoming the "last man on the Moon."
