The Air Jordan XI’s, designed by legendary Nike designer Tinker Hatfield, were created in 1995 when Hatfield realized that Michael Jordan could roll his foot on hard cuts when playing. Hatfield took this opportunity to build a sneaker that would suit Michael with these difficult movements during gameplay. The patent leather on the uppers of the shoe additionally allowed Michael to wear the sneakers with a suit.

These specific shoes are believed to be one of only a handful ever produced. Worn by Usher during a performance at the 2014 iheart Music Festival in Las Vegas, the pair is incredibly rare and sought after. With an entirely gold upper in patent leather, black interior lining, and a white midsole, the shoes are instantly identifiable. Like each of Usher’s Jordan pairs, they come branded with three gold stars on the tongue.

Along with the Jordans 11’s, Usher has also sported pairs of all-gold Jordan 3’s and Jordan 9’s.
