By descent from the sitter to his granddaughter Henrietta Sophia (d. 1857), who married Robert Berkeley (1794-1874) in 1822;

Henry Swinburne was a travel writer whose accounts of journeys around Europe have been widely translated and reprinted. Born in Bristol, he travelled chiefly around Italy, France and Spain where he made important connections at court. Swinburne’s granddaughter, Henrietta Sophia Benfield, married Robert Berkeley (1794-1874) on 24 January 1822.
