Dom Alexandre de Sousa e Holstein Beck, Visconde de Lançada (1934-2014);

Thence by descent to the present owner.

The battle of Praia da Vitória was a naval battle fought on 11 August 1829 in the bay of Praia, on the Island Terceira in Azores, between the Portuguese Absolutist forces and the Liberals. The latter faction's victory was the beginning of the recovery of the Liberal army in exile, which led to their consequent victory and recognition of Queen Maria II as legitimate ruler of Portugal.
