Probably British, 19th century

Relief with the Virgin and Child and two cherubs

silver plated repousse metal, in a scrollwork mounted ebonised wood frame

plaque: 17 by 14cm., 6¾ by 5½in.

frame: 24 by 21cm., 9½ by 8¼in.

After a 15th-century relief in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, inv. no. 66-1866, which is also known in several stucco versions.
