the tooled leather-lined top above two drawers to each side, on reeded turned tapering legs with brass caps and castors

This table might well have been supplied alongside other high-quality pieces by Gillows to Robert Berkeley (1764-1845) for Spetchley Park, shortly after the house was completed in 1821. The Gillows commission was extensive and included a long run of Grecian inspired dining chairs for the Dining Room (see Spetchley, Sotheby's London, 11 December 2019, lot 55. The commission may well have included the extraordinary pair of carved giltwood curtain poles also in this sale (lot 183).
