A gem-set silver icon of St Alexis, Man of God, maker's mark Cyrillic V.A.S., Moscow, circa 1890
chased and engraved to illustrate the saint lying down within an interior, with the light of God beaming down over him from a cloud, the corners each set with three large cabochon amethysts and garnets, struck to the lower edge and in the field with maker's mark, 84 standard
