A floral silk embroidered and metal-thread altar frontal (Antependium), probably French, circa 1730

worked in polychrome silk naturalistic delicate scrolling trails and flowers with silver-gilt hillocky design along the lower edge, on an ivory coloured silk satin ground, with gilt-ribbon passementerie applied to outer edges
