A claret, embroidered and metal-thread velvet chasuble with other accessories, Spanish, second half 16th century, and later


the pillar orphrey worked with five nue roundels depicting saints against a deep red velvet ground worked with delicate polychrome silk and metal thread foliate and floral motifs; together with a complementary stole, maniple, chalice veil and burse, all of later claret coloured velvet applied with a gilt metal and blue silk cross motif
