Description
[Bob Marley and] The Wailers
Catch a Fire. Island Records, 1973
LP in original die cut sleeve (catalogue number SW-9329) with two-part "zippo" design, signed on the rear cover by Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Aston "Family Man" Barrett and others, the Winchester pressing with "─◁" etched in the runouts, with the small "zippo" insert; sleeve broken at side hinge, rubbing and creasing, slight loss at the corners.
A signed copy of the first pressing of Catch a Fire. The Wailers' fifth studio album, it was their first to be released by the legendary Island Records. The album was issued in two different sleeves: the first, as is the present copy, being in the shape of a Zippo lighter and credited to The Wailers; the second issue, released in 1974 and appearing with all subsequent releases, features a photographic portrait of Bob Marley smoking a spliff, and is credited to Bob Marley and the Wailers. Just 20,000 copies with the Zippo design were released, given the manufacturing cost.
