Description

Artist: Georges Mercier (dates unknown)

Unframed: 63 x 47 in. (160 x 119 cm)

Georges Mercier designed this striking Buster Keaton poster for the film's French re-release in 1931. Keaton was most famous for his work during the silent film era, and was a huge star. This film was originally shown in France in 1925 and so popular were his films that it was re-released six years later.

This 1924 American silent comedy was directed by and stars Buster Keaton. Rollo Treadway (Buster Keaton) wants to marry his neighbour Betsy O'Brien (Kathryn McGuire) and go on a honeymoon cruise to Honolulu. After she rejects his offer of marriage he decides to still go on the cruise, but boards the wrong ship - the Navigator, which is owned by Betsy's father. When Betsy's father is captured by spies, Betsy boards the ship to look for him, but the ship is cut loose and the only passengers are the two spoilt socialites Rollo and Betsy, who have to fend for themselves!
