purchased by A.M. ('Ton') van den Broek (1932-1995), Haarlem (bears his mark, verso, not in Lugt)

The attribution to Van der Kabel was proposed by Dr. An Zwollo at the time of the 1990 sale, as was the identification of the ruins depicted.
