Painted for Charles Thomas Lucas (1820–1895), Sister House, Clapham and later Warnham Court, Sussex;
John James Moubray (1857–1928), Naemoor, Aberdeenshire and Killerby Hall, Yorkshire;
By whose estate sold, London, Christie’s, 10 May 1929, lot 45, to Leggatt, for 120 guineas;
From whom almost certainly acquired by William Eric Ward, 3rd Earl of Dudley (1894–1969);
Thence by descent to the present owner.
Listed in the artist’s record books under works completed in 1861 as ‘The Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey’;
