"The Volcano Cap Mushroom is a twist on the nature of mycology. This piece toys with the idea of how self dispersal of spores might occur via a fictional branch of evolution.

Pressure begins to build in the gills of the Volcano Cap Mushroom, eventually causing a violent eruption of hot spores that are propelled into the air and carried away by the wind."

Luke Penry is a south London based CG generalist with a passion for science and evolutionary biology. These subjects feed directly into the 3D structures he builds, often using real world organisms as a base and digitally mutating them into new species with unique functions and methods of reproduction, leading to his animations being frequently mistaken for reality.
