Natively Digital: Glitch-ism

This March, Sotheby’s New York is thrilled to announce Natively Digital: Glitch-ism. Presenting artworks from Xcopy, JakNFT, jakethedegen, Luis Ponce, neurocolor, Patrick Amadon, and many more, this curated sale draws upon inspiration from the digital style that emerged in the 1990s and gained popularity in the early 2000s known as Glitch Art. At its core, Glitch Art involves the intentional creation of errors and glitches in digital media, such as images, videos, and sound. In its present form, digital artists have continued to create and innovate this aesthetic, combining elements that have pervaded digital art over the past several years. Whether the work is a reference to the state of cryptocurrency or a wider social commentary, this glitch aesthetic has had a deep and profound impact on the formation of the Digital Art World as a whole. The online auction will open for bidding on Sothebys.com at 2pm on March 24.
