The present work bears an exhibition stamp in Russian and Japanese on the stretcher. The artist was based in Japan from October 1920 until August 1922, exhibiting widely and promoting the work of his colleagues from the Russian avant-garde milieu. The stamp most likely relates to a large-scale exhibition of Burliuk's works held in February 1922 in Fukuoka.
