Pen and brown ink and wash over black chalk;

sold together with a separate sheet inscribed by Edward Cheney, detailing the early provenance: "This collection was made by G. B. Tiepolo himself and given by / him to his son for the library of the Sommasco convent (S. / Maria della Salute) at Venice in which he was pro / fessed. At the suppression of the convents the notebooks / fell into the hands of Cicognara by whom they were / given in an exchange to Canova from whom they / passed after his death to Monsr Canova his bro / ther, by him they were sold to Sig. Francesco / Pasaro [sic.] & by him to me.

E. C. Venice 1842."
