Maiolica broad-rimmed bowl


tin-glazed earthenware

inscribed and signed on the interior of the foot: L’alta visiõ[n] d’Imera/ ’’ i[n] Siragusa./. F[rancesco] . Xã[nto] : /[da] .R[ovigo].’

painted with the Dream of the Woman of Himera, in blue, yellow, green, turquoise, emerald green, orange, grey, purple, black and white. Jupiter sits on a plinth in the centre holding his thunderbolts and with the eagle by his side, Dionysus in chains below, two female figures on the right and a putto on the left
