framed: 12¾ by 11⅛ in.; 32.4 by 28.3 cm.

Acquired by the father of the present owners, probably in Paris in the 1970s or 1980s;
Thence by descent.
In this charming portrait of a young woman, Jacques-Antoine Vallin, an artist known for his bacchantes and landscape scenes, appears to be working in a manner influenced by the artist Jean-Baptiste Greuze.
