In 2022, a stupendous, spicy/exotic nose, with oriental cedar wood and blackcurrants in there too. Soft, rich and winningly flavoury on the palate, showing the higher percentage of Merlot in the blend at this time. Both juicy and opulent, bursting with black fruit and an intriguing complexity. We drank it with a casserole of mixed game, but I stand by my recommendation of macaroni cheese as an alternative partner! One of the best 1998s anywhere - Ribena for the Gods. Serena Sutcliffe, MW
