The Property of a Gentleman
A Kakiemon dish
Edo period, late 17th century
the shallow circular dish moulded in five lobes, decorated in iron red, green blue and yellow enamels and gilt, with a central roundel depicting plum, pine and young bamboo grass (sasa) forming the Three Friends of Winter (Shochikubai), surrounded by tree peony among rockwork, impressed rope pattern to the rim, the base with six spur marks
22 cm., 8⅝ in. diam.
