Launching in 1954, the Rolex GMT-Master was the first wristwatch to display two different time-zones simultaneously and therefore became an instant success with pilots worldwide.

In 1959 the reference 1675, replaced the previous reference 6542. The 1675 was in production until 1980, which is a very long run, portraying its success amongst professionals and private users alike.

While collectors usually refer to the watch by its Mark, dictated by the dial configuration, there is one exception, to which the present lot belongs.

It is widely believed that the Rolex ref. 1675 with full blue bezel, nicknamed 'blueberry', was made in limited series for the middle east, likely the armed forces during the 1970s. This is perhaps why the present lot is equipped with an Arabic date wheel.

This watch is further offered in fantastic condition, maintaining healthy proportions and crisp edges. What is more the indexes and hands have developed a striking and consistent patina having changed from white to a rich brown.
