A historically interesting gold hunting cased minute repeating chronograph commemoration watch, the case with General Saint Martin in relief, made for the South American market Circa 1910, No. 64338
Movement: gilded bar, lever escapement, bi-metallic compensation balance, two small polished steel hammers striking on two coiled gongs, revolving governor, numbered 64338 and signed Lugrin
Dial: engine-turned gilt dial, the centre with embossed arms of the Army of the Andes, all surrounded by a floral motif, chapter ring with Arabic numerals, outer chronograph seconds track, subsidiary seconds, blued steel hands
Case: 18ct gold case, repoussé cuvette representing Manuel Belgrano, Juan José Castelli and José de San Martín, the three Argentine loyalists opposed to the Spanish royal crown and inscribed Gloria a los Proceres de la Independencia, the front cover with relief of a battle scene and inscribed Batalla de Maipu, the back cover with depiction of General San Martin with globe and papers, inscribed General San Martin, engraved band inscribed Centenario de la Independencia, case back with Swiss hallmarks and numbered 280952
