The original Tortue was introduced in 1906 and just two years after the first men's wristwatch was invented. Its tonneau-shaped case bears a strong resemblance to the Art-Deco period's aesthetic, which is highly sought after in today's market. The current watch is part of the Collection Privée Cartier Paris (CPCP) launched in 1998, which was inspired by Cartier's historical designs. The magic happens inside the Tortue Monopoussoir as it is powered by the calibre 045MC, manufactured by THA Ebauche founded in 1996 when horological geniuses Vianney Halter, Denis Flageollet, and François-Paul Journe partnered together to create the incredible movement.
