The Royal Oak reference 15202 introduced in 2012 is the updated iteration that marks the reference 5402’s 40th anniversary. Classically sized at 39 mm in diameter, the present example bears all the typical hallmarks of the Royal Oak pieces, with its iconic porthole shaped octagonal bezel designed by the legendary watchmaker Gerald Genta. This timepiece is notable for having the AP logo situated just above the 6 o'clock position, which is uncommon in the present-day Royal Oak models where the logo is usually found at 12 o'clock.
Derived from Jaeger-LeCoultre's renowned ultra-thin JLC 920 movement, the 15202 is powered by the ultra-thin AP caliber 2121. This gave the watch an 8.1mm case thickness which became one of the distinctive appeals for collectors who prefer pieces with a delicate finish.
