The Antiqua holds historical significance in Vianney's watchmaking journey, as it was the very first model he created and debuted at the Basel Watch Fair in 1998. Instantly recognizable, the design draws inspiration from Captain Nemo's submarine, the Nautilus, with the actual layout referencing a marine chronometer. The sophisticated perpetual calendar has a unique presentation yet easily to read, as the dial is split into four riveted portholes with different diameters.
Turning the watch over, the caliber VH198 is entirely visible through the sapphire case back thanks to Halter's patented mysterious winding rotor, where there is no visible part between the peripherical rotating mass and the caliber center. Taking approximately 900 hours to complete, it is thought that less than 100 examples of the Antiqua were made in all metals over the production period. The 'steampunk' aesthetic made the watch a must-have for collectors of independent watchmaking.
