The Rolex Daytona is with no doubt one of the most beloved timepieces ever made. In the year 2000, Rolex introduced the first Daytona model featuring their in-house self-winding chronograph movement, known as the caliber 4130. This marked a significant improvement over the previous Zenith-based movements in several aspects. The caliber 4130 was thinner, easier to service, more accurate, and more efficient, enhancing the overall wearer experience.
One notable variant of the caliber 4130 Daytona is the reference 116519, which like its predecessor the reference 16519, is crafted in white gold and offers various dial configurations. These dials range from hardstones to mother-of-pearl, each requiring exceptional craftsmanship to create as each has its own unique composition resulting in varying hardness, luster and inclusions. The present reference 116519 features a stunning meteorite dial.
