Terre de faïence plate, 1956, an unnumbered example aside from the edition of 100, this plate was used as the mould for Ateliers Hugo's creation of the corresponding repoussée silver plate, with the Empreinte Originale de Picasso and Madoura stamps

The present plate was given by Pablo Picasso to silversmith François Hugo in 1955 so that Ateliers Hugo could realise a corresponding repoussée silver plate, also known as Dormeur. It was used to create the mould for the silver Dormeur edition, hence the studio matter on the reverse. The lot is accompanied by a statement to this affect signed by Pierre Hugo.
