The furniture designed by architect Gio Ponti for Dassi, including the present lot, was chosen by architect Giovanni Frattini for the bedrooms of the Hotel Royal in Naples. This armchair with built-in headrests is an excellent example of the kind of innovative thinking that characterised Gio Ponti’s work. By integrating the headrests into the frame of the chair as a unique skeleton, Ponti was able to create a modern and streamlined design that was both visually appealing and comfortable to use. The furniture designed by Ponti for the Hotel Royal in Naples is highly regarded by collectors, with this particular armchair version, which is alike the one published in the Dassi corporate advertisements in Domus in 1956, being rarer in the market.

This lot is sold with a certificate of authenticity from the Gio Ponti Archives.

Les meubles conçus par l'architecte Gio Ponti pour Dassi, comme notre exemplaire, ont été choisis par l'architecte Giovanni Frattini pour les chambres de l'Hôtel Royal de Naples. Ce fauteuil avec appuie-tête intégré est un excellent exemple de la pensée innovante qui caractérise l'œuvre de Gio Ponti. En intégrant les appuis-tête au cadre du fauteuil comme une unique structure, Ponti a pu créer un design moderne et épuré, à la fois attrayant et confortable. Le mobilier conçu par Ponti pour l'Hôtel Royal de Naples est très apprécié des collectionneurs. Cette version particulière du fauteuil, semblable à celle publiée dans les publicités de l'entreprise Dassi dans Domus en 1956, est plus rare sur le marché.
