The present example is notable for its luminous glaze and dynamic modeling of the coiled dragon. Compare vases of similar form with a crimped gallery along the shoulder, such as the one in the Barlow Collection, illustrated in Michael Sullivan, Chinese Ceramics, Bronzes and Jades in the Collection of Sir Alan and Lady Barlow, London, 1963, pl. 107, and one from the Songde Tang Collection, sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 3rd December 2021, lot 2810.
