Other examples of inlaid fanghu with designs of a diagonal diapers layout, include one excavated in Shanxian, Henan province and now preserved in the National Museum of China, Beijing, included in the exhibition The Great Bronze Age of China, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, 1980, pl. 73, fig. 2; another in the Hebei Provincial Museum, Hebei, illustrated in Zhongguo qingtongqi quanji [Complete series on Chinese bronzes], vol. 9, Beijing, 1997, pl. 155, fig. 3. Compare also a fanghu with diagonal and bossed decoration, from the collection of Arthur B. Michael and later in the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo, New York, sold in our New York rooms, 20th March 2007, lot 508.
