描述

A small 'Longquan' celadon-glazed washer

Southern Song dynasty

南宋 龍泉窰青釉小洗

Diameter 3½ in., 8.9 cm

David Hawkes Asian Art, Somerset, March 2007.

David Hawkes Asian Art，索美塞特，2007年3月

The elegant simplicity of the form and glaze of this washer embodies the discerning, subtle aesthetic of the scholar-officials of the Song dynasty which was characterized by its modesty and naturalism. The luminous glaze complements the body, enhancing its graceful silhouette. Similar examples include a Longquan washer with craquelure sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 4th April 2017, lot 3002; and another of the same form and type sold in these rooms, 15th March 2017, lot 611.
