Freddie Mercury’s Fila jacket with shirt and trousers, 1970s


A red and white cotton jersey ‘Fila’ jacket, with red and white striped knitted collar, cuffs and hem, red, blue and white machine-embroidered ‘Fila’ logo patch to left chest, blue chevron to either side of waist and blue zip fastening, labelled ‘White Line Fila’; with a short-sleeved Hawaiian shirt repeat printed in black lettering ‘Balise-U Land’ and a design of red palm trees and green beach shades, fastening with imitation mother-of-pearl buttons, labelled ‘Balise-U’ and a pair of white jeans labelled ‘Desigual Colour Button’, 1980s

Freddie wore this jacket, or an identical one, on numerous occasions in the mid-1970s, most notably with a black and white zig-zag scarf (lot 126) and with a similar Hawaiian shirt during an interview in the mid-70s.
